Home Learning

Helping your child at home with their learning is very important. It supports and extends the learning in the classroom and enables parents and carers to be more closely involved with their child’s education.

Reading with your child daily is essential; we will send home reading books regularly and we will also provide an online reading facility – Bug Club.

Weekly spellings will be issued. In the Early Years and Year 1, we will also send home sound cards, which reflect the current focus in the phonics lessons.

For mathematics, pupils will be given weekly times tables practice, as well as activities from our online maths facility, Mathletics.

In addition, children will have half-termly activities linked to their current topic. These will provide opportunities for children to think creatively, embed their learning and produce their own form of response: for example, a model or piece of art work, a project, an IT presentation, a recount following a family visit or a cooking activity. These topics lead to a celebratory topic afternoon for parents/carers to join in with.
